We advise insurers and intermediaries on regulatory matters, including market entry, FoS/FoE structuring, AML/KYC and claims management.
Since 2019, we have advised international insurers and insurance intermediaries on entering the Romanian market and on their ongoing regulatory compliance. This includes work under the Freedom of Services (FoS) and Freedom of Establishment (FoE) regimes that apply to EU insurers operating in Romania.
Our regulatory work covers the structuring of distribution models, compliance programmes, AML and KYC obligations, product documentation and claims management. We have acted for global insurers, major European insurance groups and UK-based insurers on their Romanian regulatory requirements and cross-border service arrangements.
In transactions, we advise on share deals and business transfers involving insurance brokers and intermediaries, on the regulatory approvals they require and on aligning compliance after closing. We also advise Romanian insurance brokers day to day on licensing, distribution obligations and compliance.
